My “AHA MOMENT”

The editors from House Beautiful asked those of us that attended Blogfest 2012 what inspires us and what “aha moment” we have created in our work.  So here it is……

My “aha moment” was when we created a before and after that I could use to encourage “those men” that think wood should never be painted!!  I don’t know what it is about men, but we seem to run across these issues:

1.  The TV is the most important thing in the home.

2.  The recliner is the second most important item in the home.

2.  They hyperventilate at the thought of painting “wood”.

So, AHA, here it is, my chance to sway you that it’s not only OK to paint wood, it can be life changing as it is for this family in Marietta, Georgia.  This is my favorite before and after of our work!!

The “Before”

The “After”

Have I convinced you yet??

Now that really shows the value in painting wood paneling!! I love what you two did in that room! Also love the whimsy of the painting ………. And what it represents to you each time you see it. That is the value of art!

Just found this room on Printerest. I have been looking for an idea to refresh my family room, which has floor to ceiling Judges Paneling on the fireplace wall. This room makeover is my inspiration! The fireplace wall is very similar to my own, including the triangular shaped windows above. Thanks!!!

Been looking for something like this, my husband is the same way! We have the panelling in our living room. And it’s the only room he won’t let me paint! Maybe now when he sees this it will change his mind.

Hi Kathleen!
I have to admit that photo has turned around a few husbands!! Sometimes all they need is a visual :) Good luck!
