One Surefire Way to Happiness!!

“Being good is commendable, but only when it is combined with doing good is it useful.” ….unknown

One surefire way to feeling happy is to give to someone else.

Our participation with the Room Service Atlanta project at The United Methodist Children’s Home was one of the most rewarding experiences of our careers!!

We’re happy to report that the project is complete!!

We could not have done this without the help of family, friends, vendors and business associates!!  So our heartfelt thanks go out to the following:

Black Sheep Interiors for this striking console.

The artistic talent of Joan Borawski for transforming this amazing table!!

Christine Coffman, a realtor who gave her time to sew the window treatments in the space.

Katherine Cohen and Kimberly Leach from FLOR for the beautiful red area rug.

Jim Dempsey of Panasonic for this large screen TV.

Tim Hall of Tim Hall Photography who donated the Varsity photograph.  You can view his work at Fine Art America.

Jay Helser of Helser Brothers for the drapery hardware.

Kemp Hickey of Kemp Designs for the cool red and white repurposed surveying tripod lamps.  You can find him at Scott’s Antique Market the 2nd weekend of every month.

Leather Creations, our biggest donor for a high quality leather sofa and 2 swivel chairs.

The custom graffiti artwork created by Jay Scott Studios.

Kathy O’Malley from The Closet Factory in Roswell, GA for the “custom” bookcase that houses books, games and storage.

Sam Sheron of Lewis & Sheron Fabrics for the striped fabric and lining for our window treatments.

Steve Penley for the “famous” coke art and Rick Thompson from Thompson’s Frame and Gallery  for the framing!

Spiffy Stuff for our “perfect little table” between the leather chairs.

Jason Tedder for this industrial lamp for the boy’s desk.  You can also find him at Scotts Antique Market the 2nd weekend of every month.

If that alone wasn’t amazing, here are our other donors:

Sherwin Williams  – primer and Emerald paint

Verge & Associates Painting & Siding –  priming and painting of walls, ceiling and trim

Karen Sutherland of F Schumacher Fabrics for the fabric for the sofa pillows

Sue Cruickshank for fabricating the pillows

Scott Burris for re-upholstering the 6 executive chairs around the table

Shane Cox of Design Logistics for furniture delivery

Chris Ray of Hangman Installations along with Brad Dewberry and Bruce Marko for installing window treatments, putting together the IKEA pieces, hanging art, and whatever else we asked of them!!

The following monetary donations:

The Charlton Family, the Dougherty family, the Geiger family, the Harper Family, and the Murray Family.

We would also like to thank our dependable and devoted assistant, Amy Dempsey and our husbands who are constant supporters of us and all of our endeavors!!  Our hearts are happy!!

Last week we attended the “wrap party” hosted by Mitchell Gold Bob Williams. We got to celebrate all of the participants hard work!! How awesome that Mitchell Gold Bob Williams announced that a percentage of the money from purchases made between November 1st – 10th will go directly to Room Service Atlanta!

Our hats off to Erika Ward and Dayka Robinson, the founders of Room Service for their time and service to the community. All of the talent portrayed throughout the cottage is pretty outstanding!  Photos of the other rooms coming soon!!

If possible, we would love for you to view this amazing cottage.  There is an Open House on Monday, November 5th from 3-7pm.  The address is 500 S. Columbia Drive, Decatur, GA  30030.  There is a small donation charge of $5.00 to go toward The United Methodist Children’s Home.  It’s like a mini Designer Showhouse with great do it yourself ideas, amazing color combinations, and unique accessorizing.  Not only is the cottage beautiful to look at, there is such a sense of the “gift” that was given to these boys.
